This morning as I was scanning through facebook I came across a post that was so uplifting; you know, the inspirational quotes that set our spirits soaring. This quote was a great “faith building” phrase of just a few words. It relayed to the reader the miraculous power of God with such anointing!
However, in the replies, I read a really disturbing comment. It was written by an individual that was lashing out vehemently because of a traumatic circumstance that had happened to them. They were making statements that were close to blasphemy. In addition to the first comment, there were several comments written by others that stood in agreement to this one. In fact, each statement was basically stating that God is an entity that one wants to believe in, but is not real.
In reply to these antagonistic posts were comments from Christians that, I suppose, thought were “setting them straight.” My heart broke as I read some of the replies from my brothers and sisters! It actually put me on the defense of the individuals that had posted the first comment; not to say that the original statements were in any way valid. What I am saying is that we should never critic too quickly what is being said. Let’s try to listen to what the “heart” is saying and not always the words.
From the beginning of the first post I could hear heartbreak; actually, a cry for someone to prove them wrong. They seemed to want so bad to hear they are mistaken. These individuals are, in reality, hurting and searching for something factual and in their human state of carnality don’t always know how to express what their heart is crying out for.
I don’t think it’s wrong to want to know if what is being told to us by others is true. I admire them for that! I don’t in any way condone what they are saying and it honestly hurts and frustrates me to hear of my God, which is so perfect and full of compassion and mercies, talked of in a nugatory way. However, it’s our responsibility to pray for them, not to put them on the defense to the point of walking away thinking that Christians don’t care.
Many of these individuals have not had the golden opportunity that so many of us have had (and are taking for granted) of being raised in a Christian home. For them, we, as Christians, may be the only Bible they ever read. We surely want our life, indeed, God wants our life to relay the love and mercies of a compassionate God, the God that truly He is. We are God’s mouthpiece. Let’s speak the things that are becoming to Him. God so loves these individuals and has placed them in our path for a reason. Listen and let God’s Spirit guide you with how to minister to them. For such were some of us…
Of all the prayer requests we have prayed and continue to pray, it saddens me to realize that this loving God I serve only had one prayer request for me in all His Word and I so often fall short in answering it for Him but expect Him to answer my every need and desire.
This is Jesus speaking His request to us, Church. Pay close attention to verse 38.
Matthew 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;
38 Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.
So this prayer request He asked of us was for us to be a soul winner. He wants us to gather the harvest. And He let us know also just how ready this harvest is.
John 4:35 …..behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
It’s my desire to be everything I need to be in order to be what God has need of me to be for His kingdom. I want to be like a magnet to a lost and dying world that feels pain, sorrow and loneliness. I want to be fully equipped with what they need when we come in contact with one another. I want to be sensitive enough to recognize their need as well as act upon it. I want to minister hope where there is sorrow, light where there is darkness, love where there is hate, peace where there is torment and confusion, and most of all, I want to minister faith and belief in a real God where there is doubt, etc… I want my life to be the Word of God written and read of all men.
ll Corinthians 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
Let us each one examine ourselves and let the words of our mouths be seasoned from above, fit for the Master’s use.
Let us none go to Heaven empty-handed.
